This term, we have enjoyed learning some traditional tales like, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Gingerbread Man. The children have used a story map and stick puppets to retell the stories. We followed the Three Bears' recipe instructions to make porridge and built traps to catch the sly fox and stop him from tricking the Gingerbread Man and eating him. We conducted experiments to see what changes happen when biscuits get wet and learned about ‘Christmas’ spices like, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg: how they grow, what they look like, smell and taste like.

We celebrated World Nursery Rhyme Week this year by taking part in ‘The Rhyme A Day Challenge’ and learned five new songs: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, 1,2,3,4,5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive, Bingo, The Big Ship Sailed on the Alley-Alley Oh and Five Little Speckled Frogs. We made our own art works to go along with each song to help us sing them to our grown-ups at home.

For Christmas, we learned Christmas songs like, 'Five Mince Pies in the Baker’s Shop', 'Jingle Bells', 'Twinkle, Twinkle Christmas Star', 'When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney' and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’. We added props and musical instruments to create a more exciting performance and invited our families to watch our Christmas Concert.
