Spring Term Highlights from Year 6

Dinton Pastures Residential Visit

One of the highlights of the year was the residential visit to Dinton Pastures. Throughout the visit, pupils demonstrated outstanding resilience, independence and teamwork. They took part in a wide range of outdoor and adventurous activities that encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones, support one another and develop confidence in their own abilities.

Whether navigating challenges together, participating in team-building activities or enjoying time outdoors with friends, pupils embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm. Staff were particularly impressed by the maturity they displayed, their willingness to encourage one another and the positive attitude they maintained throughout the visit.

The residential provided countless opportunities for pupils to build friendships, develop problem-solving skills and create memories that will stay with them for many years.

Preparing for Secondary School

A significant focus during the summer term has been supporting pupils with their transition to secondary school. They participated in a range of transition activities designed to build confidence and prepare them for the changes ahead. These included transition visits, discussions about expectations, opportunities to ask questions and reflective activities.

Pupils considered how the skills they have developed during primary school will help them succeed in the future. Staff worked closely with families and secondary schools to support a smooth transition, helping every child feel ready and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.

School-o-Vision Leavers' Production

Year 6 showcased their creativity, confidence and talent through their leavers' production, School-o-Vision. The performance was a fantastic celebration of their primary school years and allowed every child to play an important role.

Through acting, singing, dancing and teamwork, pupils entertained families and staff while reflecting on their memories and experiences. The quality of the final performance was a testament to the effort, commitment and enthusiasm demonstrated throughout weeks of rehearsals.

Celebratory Cinema Visit – Toy Story 5

To celebrate the end of SATs, their achievements throughout the year and the completion of their primary education, Year 6 enjoyed a special cinema trip to watch Toy Story 5. The visit provided an opportunity for pupils to relax, enjoy time together and celebrate their successes.

The excitement throughout the day was evident, and the trip created another memorable shared experience before pupils moved on to secondary school.

A Fond Farewell

We are incredibly proud of everything Year 6 have achieved. They leave primary school having demonstrated resilience, kindness, determination and ambition.

We wish every pupil the very best for the future and hope they continue to embrace new challenges, seize opportunities and believe in their ability to succeed. They will always remain a valued part of our school community, and we look forward to hearing about their future achievements.
