This term, Year 2 have had lots of fun and excitement in their learning across the curriculum!

Art

The children put their artistic skills to the test by creating beautiful pottery inspired by Emma Bridgewater. They practised moulding and carving patterns into playdough before carefully shaping their clay bowls. After patiently waiting for the bowls to dry, they thoroughly enjoyed painting them with a range of bright and interesting patterns.

Science

We have been very busy in science this term! The children learned all about carnivores, omnivores and herbivores, and we even had a special visit from one of our resident herbivores, Snow the guinea pig. The children also explored the school grounds to investigate insects and discover which plants they were eating.

Maths

In maths, Year 2 have been busy with lots of new learning. The children learned all about money and practised making different amounts using coins and notes. They also showed great resilience when learning about time, including o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past. To support their learning, the children even made their own clocks.

Design and Technology

In DT, Year 2 became engineers as they carefully designed and built their own drawbridges. They demonstrated excellent technical skills while cutting cardboard and testing their designs to see how well they worked.

A word from Miss Hutchinson

I am incredibly proud of the hard work and progress Year 2 have shown this year. I hope you all enjoy a well‑deserved rest over the summer holidays, and I wish you every success as you move into Year 3!
