Summer Term Highlights from Nursery
Back
During the summer, our topics were “Down at the Bottom of the Garden” and “Under the Sea.” The children explored the natural world through hands-on observations of animals and plants. They learned how to pot a seed and discovered that seeds need sunlight, warmth, and water to grow. They also learned about farms and the types of animals that live there.
Through their books, the children investigated seaside environments, studying a variety of sea creatures. They learned about the different animals that inhabit the ocean, how water temperature can vary from warm to cold, and how the Earth is divided into land and sea. They also discussed how to stay safe near the water.
To deepen their understanding of creatures and their habitats—and to express their creativity through art—the children designed their own imaginative dinosaurs and built environments for them using a range of materials. They experimented with colour mixing to create new colours and different shades, expanding both their artistic skills and their knowledge of the world around them.
