This term's topic was 'On the Farm', looking at why farms are important, what type of farms there are and what you will find on farms. We used non-fiction and fiction books, educational videos, and hands-on experience to gain an understanding of what it is like to be a farmer.

We listened to stories like ‘The Little Red Hen,’ ‘Rosie’s Walk,’ ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ and ‘Six Little Chicks.’ We wanted to know what it would be like to be a farmer, so we planted our own wheat seeds to make our own bread and used heavy cream to make our own butter.

We also created salt dough biscuits and breads to play with in our bakery by following a simple step-by-step recipe. We played farmers and learned about milking cows, collecting eggs, and mucking out stalls to look after our livestock.
