The children have had an exciting and action-packed few weeks, bursting with creativity, curiosity, and teamwork. One of the highlights was learning and performing the Reach 2 song to mark the opening of our wonderful new school building. Their performance was full of energy, pride, and joy—it was a moment to remember!

Science

In Science, we delved into the fascinating world of animals and their habitats, including the tiny wonders of microhabitats. Using our new learning we explored a local habitat to see what plants, animals and mini beasts we could find.

Art

In Art, we took inspiration from the beautiful work of Emma Bridgewater. The children crafted stunning clay bowls, using stamping techniques to decorate them with their own unique patterns. They also explored how moulds can help create more detailed pottery with ease and precision.

DT

In Design and Technology, we explored the mechanics behind drawbridges. After studying real-life examples like London Bridge, the children designed and constructed their own working drawbridges using recycled materials. It was a brilliant blend of engineering, creativity, and sustainability!

This term has been filled with learning, laughter, and imagination. I wish all of Year 2 a restful and joyful summer holiday—and I can’t wait to see them bring their enthusiasm and curiosity into Year 3!
