Welcome to Turquoise, Year 3/4!
Do you have any ideas for this page? Why not let Ms. Abbott know!
Have you seen the Kids' Zone? Play games, and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourites!
In the new term, we'll be working on a few really fun art and design projects. However, we need you to bring in a few items from home to help us do this.
Helpful items are:
It wouldn't hurt to bring an old t-shirt to change into as well, as sometimes these projects will be a little messy. (Ms. Abbott's kitchen needed a serious cleaning after paper maché practice!)
Looking to get a head start on the new term?
|Maths||Make a poster with different ways to represent fractions. Pizzas? Ice creams? Sharing with brothers and sisters?|
|Writing||Imagine that you have performed a heroic act. Your name and picture have appeared in local and national newspapers. What heroic act did you perform? What happened and who was involved? Tell the story of your heroic deed in the form of a recount or newspaper report.|
|Reading||Get caught reading in an unusual place (Google: 'reading in unusual places' for help) and bring a photo of it to class for the class display. Or you can email it to Ms. Abbott email@example.com and she'll print it.|
|Theme||We're looking at heroes and villains this term. Make a collage portrait of different heroes in history such as Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Theresa, Gandhi, et cetera. Remember to use a range of different materials.|
|Science||What are fruits and vegetables? Where do they come from? Where can we buy fruits and vegetables? We're looking at nutrition this term. Create a poster either inform our classmates about fruit and vegetable facts or persuade them that they need to eat fruits and vegetables.|
We will be learning about famous scientists and inventors this term.
If you choose to do a fact file on a scientist or inventor for homework, this website might help with your research.
This term in year 3 and 4 our theme is Robots. We will be learning about electricity, magnets and famous scientists from history.
Children will be investigating how and why magnets stick to different objects and making dancing snakes.
We will be making models of robots in design technology.
In PE this term we will be budding Andy Murrays and Laura Robsons, learning how to play tennis. In French, we are learning the vocabulary linked to our friends and families. In computing, we are using a program called Scratch which teaches us about programming.
Please make sure you read your books every night and learn your time tables.
Enjoy the term. Let's hope the sun comes out!!!!!
We'll be basing our writing next week on this video. What do you think the two octopi are thinking in each scene? Bring your ideas to class.
