Maths

In maths we have been learning about time and number sense. We have particularly enjoyed learning about roman numerals and solving problems using them. We also surprised ourselves with how easy it can be to add three-digit numbers together using mental strategies. Although time can be a tricky topic to master, everyone has worked so hard and made fantastic progress. We also had time to play some time games which we all thoroughly enjoyed!

English

In English, we have been writing our own non- chronological reports and everyone, including Mrs Davies, have learnt some very weird and wonderful facts about animals across the world. It was great to see everyone taking so much interest in their animals, collecting their research and then writing detailed and well structed reports! We are finishing the term with writing complaint letters, and we are having a lot of fun thinking of excuses as to why we can’t complete our homework!

Art

In Art, we are focusing on the artist Alexander Calder who is well known for his sculptures. We are working on recreating his invention of the baby mobile using wire and other materials. This has proven to be a bit tricky, but everyone has shown such resilience during these lessons.

Science

In Science, we have been focusing on forces and measuring in Newtons. We have enjoyed testing surfaces and whether something being pushed or pulled affects how much force is needed to move it. Year 3 conducted an experiment on the playground and found that the smoother the surface, the less force is needed.
